Meet Beth
I'm an early riser — hot coffee at home while the house is still quiet, then an iced coffee on my way out the door. Most days I'm running Jax Gifts, keeping up with my three boys, and spending plenty of time on the phone with family and friends. When I get a break, you'll find me on the tennis or pickleball court.

Mahjong has been part of my life for years — tiles, laughter, and summers at the bungalow colony. Last fall some friends in Englewood asked me to teach them, and one of them said I should be doing this for real. Now I have a mahjong room set up at home, with different sets and tables, and people coming through all day and night.
There's a seat for every group.
No experience needed for any of it — I bring the tiles, the snacks, and the energy.
Two-Part Beginner Series (101 & 102)
Lesson 1 runs about 2–2½ hours, Lesson 2 about 2 hours. I provide everything you need — by the end you'll be ready to play on your own. Most groups invite me back for a refresher!

Before you book
Do I need any experience?+
Not at all — no experience needed. I provide everything you need, and by the end of the beginner series you'll be ready to play on your own.
How many people do I need?+
I teach groups of 4 whenever possible — learning with friends makes it more fun and less intimidating, and everyone starts at the same level.
How long are lessons and what do they cost?+
Lesson 1 is about 2–2½ hours, Lesson 2 is about 2 hours. It's $50 per person, per lesson.
Where do lessons take place?+
At my home in Englewood, NJ — or over Zoom with a document camera if you're not local.
What if we want more than the beginner series?+
I also offer private lessons, group classes, corporate events, tournaments, and kids & teens classes — many groups invite me back for strategy or a refresher.
